Principal’s Message

Dear Students, Staff and Parents,

As the proud principal of Essex High School, I’d like to welcome you all to the 2017 - 2018 school year. It is my pleasure to work with over 500 students grades 8 through 12 and nearly 50 staff members to ensure a safe and academically rich environment that will inspire all learners to meet and exceed their potential to be problem solvers, innovative and reflective thinkers, and self-directed, healthy citizens able to thrive in the twenty-first century global society.

This year (and every year) the students and staff of EHS will work to make continued improvement toward SOL performance goals and to strengthen our commitment to the greater community. High expectations for all in regard to academic performance, co-curricular participation and responsible citizenship will be the foundation for our growth. The EHS staff believes that the high school experience sets the stage for success later in life; therefore, our hardworking faculty is dedicated to encouraging and supporting your student in achieving their goals.

Essex Trojans are proud of our rich history of academic, athletic, artistic, career-occupational, and extracurricular programs designed to advance student achievement. We encourage your student to become involved and engaged in and outside of the classroom. We feel this will enhance their high school experience and help them form positive relationships and memories that can last a lifetime.

To make the school year the best for you and your student, we encourage you to become part of the EHS family. We encourage you to join the PTSA, volunteering, or help out with school events; your support is always appreciated. We hope to make the high school experience a positive and memorable one for you and your student.

I look forward to working with the many families that trust the EHS staff to educate and care for their students. Our administration team is available to meet and discuss concerns about the school or the individual progress of a student with parents, guardians and students themselves. Additionally, the excellent counselors and staff make themselves available to assist in supporting our students’ experience.

I wish you all a wonderful school year and fondly anticipate many opportunities to celebrate our successes as we, together, navigate our Pathways to Excellence.

Go Trojans!
